With incredibly compact proportions, it's amazing that Abe Herbaugh has managed to pack so much grain (and chamber) into such a pocket sized piece of briar, with finely striated flame grain around the bowl and a rim that is covered in tight whorls of birdseye. The swoop of the lower line is quite shallow, giving the bowl both width and forward cant, with the waistline set right at the transition to the calabash style domed rim. Fittingly Abe has balanced this with a outwardly flared shank, capped with a rounded mount and slim saddle stem that bears resemblance to a gourd ready to be picked from the vine.
