Status
Diplomaticos is a current post-revolution brand, established in 1966.

Generally
It is classified by Habanos SA as a Local brand, and has a minor market share.
The range comprises medium to full strength cigars, using tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo region.

Releases
In 1966 five cigars were introduced, identical in size to the Montecristo Nos.1 to 5.
In 1976 two further sizes were introduced, corresponding to the Montecristo Especial & Especial No.2.
Special releases commenced in 2012.

History
Diplomaticos cigars were originally packaged in Semi Boite Nature (SBN) boxes. Standard dress boxes were introduced c1975.
It was originally intended to be a cheaper version of the popular Montecristo brand.
